Winter sowing in Belarus 82% complete
MINSK, 4 October September (BelTA) – Winter crops in Belarus have been sown on 1.19 million hectares, which is 82% of the target area (1,456,100 hectares), BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
The regional breakdown of the sowing progress is as follows: Minsk Oblast – 286,600 (83%), Brest Oblast – 217,000 hectares (92%), Vitebsk Oblast – 178,600 (77%), Grodno Oblast – 164,500 (83.5%), Gomel Oblast – 161,200 hectares (68%), and Mogilev Oblast – 182,100 hectares (86.5%).
Grain and leguminous crops (including corn) have been harvested from 2.13 million hectares (90.3% of the target area). Some 6.523 million tonnes of grain has been threshed. Minsk Oblast is leading with more than 1.6 million tonnes threshed. It is followed by Brest Oblast – more than 1.2 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast – more than 1.1 million tonnes, Mogilev Oblast – 862,100 tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 824,200 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 786,500 tonnes.
