Sowing of winter crops in Belarus 67.8% complete

MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) – Winter crops in Belarus have been sown on the area of 987,800 hectares, which is 67.8% of the target area (1,456,100 hectares), BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
The regional breakdown of the sowing progress is as follows: Brest Oblast, Grodno Oblast and Mogilev Oblast (over 70% of the area has been cropped), Vitebsk Oblast and Minsk Oblast (over 60%), and Gomel Oblast (over 50%).
Grain and leguminous crops (including corn) have been harvested from 2.117 million hectares (89.7% of the target area). Some 6.47 million tonnes of grain have been threshed. Minsk Oblast is leading with more than 1.6 million tonnes threshed. It is followed by Brest Oblast – more than 1.2 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast – more than 1.1 million tonnes, Mogilev Oblast – 858,000 tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 815,200 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 784,300 tonnes.
